About Pack 23

Pack 23 has been chartered by the Burlington Congregational Church for over 40 years. About 10 years ago, Pack 23 merged with Pack 431, another Cub Scout pack in town and has steadily grown to the current size of over 50 cubs.  Beginning in 2018, Pack 23 opened to boys and girls. By welcoming both girls and boys into the program, even more youth have access to the character development and values-based leadership that Scouting promises and will be better prepared for future success.

The Pack 23 Mission

The Committee and Leaders of Cub Scout Pack 23 are committed to providing a quality, year-round program of Cub Scouting activities. Special emphasis is placed on character development, spiritual growth, citizenship and family.

Program Overview

Needless to say, we think Scouting is awesome! This is a program  with an amazing history and tradition. Scouting is fun with a purpose. From citizenship to stewardship and everything in between, the Cub Scouts provide the perfect foundation for youth to grow into young men and women.

Cub Scouting is for boys and girls in kindergarten through fifth grades, or 5 to 10 years of age. Scouts in kindergarten start out as Lions.  After that, all Scouts earn the Bobcat Badge first and foremost as an introduction to the program. They progress through the ranks of Tiger, Wolf, Bear, and Webelos(We Be Loyal Scouts). Boys and girls can join Cub Scouts at any point at the rank for their age group.

Cub Scouts are active and the whole program is about participation.

The Cub Scouts will give you the chance to take part in activities with your child that you normally couldn’t do. It provides a great way for parents and children to grow closer together. In this way, Cub Scouting is a program for the entire family.

The advancement plan is very cool and kids get excited about it. The whole thing is designed for you to easily create a way to learn and have fun together at home. With the Cub Scout handbooks as a resource, parents and Scouts work together to do the achievements required for each badge. Just follow the steps; it’s all laid out. The plan is a blast to work through and gives the Scouts a sense of personal achievement as they earn their way through the program.
